I absolutely love what I do! I have the best job in the whole school. So, how did I get here? I began working with at-risk youth over 17 years ago. I loved helping youth break down the barriers that cause them to think they were not capable of success. I soon realized that Juvenile Justice Services was only helping the youth who had stumbled and fallen and needed a lot of support to get back up. I wanted to help all children learn vital life skills. I went back to school and earned my Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education and I taught 6th and 8th grade prior to earning my Master's Degree in Educational Psychology. I felt that I could do the most good in the elementary schools where life skills are taught and practiced at a very young age. Studies show that social emotional learning and academics are the recipe to success. My motto is "Don't let life ruin your dreams". I love watching youth practice the skills they are taught. When I am not working I am enjoying life with my husband of 23 years. Together we are raising four amazing children ranging from the ages of 20 to 8. I love the outdoors, running, reading, and chocolate. Megan Gatlin [email protected] Water Canyon Elementary 435-874-1182 |
